NEWS 20 November 2012 Thailand Open 2013 has a new site! www.thailandopen.nl
19 June 2012 International Grandmaster Ton Sijbrands about Thailand Open 2012
27 May 2012 Alexej Tsjizjow is the winner of Thailand Open 2012. In the last round he won his game against the surprising Thai player Damrong Sai. The 2nd and 3rd prize winners are Macodou N'diaye from Mali and Andrew Tjon A Ong from The Netherlands. Click here for the results of the last rounds and the final standings, Click here for the games of the last round. Click here for a photo slide show of the rewarding of the prizes.

Last
move was (12-18?). 25 May 2012 Thailand Open player Matrena Nogovitsyna at one of the famous Pattaya attractions: the crocodile farm. Click on the photograph for enlargement. (Source: Facebook)
25 May 2012
White
has played 32-27?
White
can make a draw with 34-30! (35x24) 3-8. If (20-25) white plays 26-21! and
8-3 =.
Last move was
48-42?
Anne Veenstra, playing
with white, gave up against Johan Alidarso. But why? The position is draw! 22 May 2012
The position is complete symmetric. Biem Ramdien, playing with black, copied the white moves, until there was clearly a better plan...
22 May 2012
Bas Baksoellah,
playing with white, has already one piece more. He ended the game directly
by a big shot. 22 May 2012
Roman Ldokov played
47-41?
Qiangrang Zeng won again. In this position Polina Vinokurova played (14-20??).
Frits Luteijn played 42-38? and lost the game without any chance. Draughts program Kingsrow found a way to make a draw: 42-37! Black has to play (12-17) [Not (14-19) because of 29-23!] and then 39-33 (14-19) 35-30 forces (19-23) and then the draw combination (see applet).
White,
Dutchman Herman Spanjer who lives in Thailand, has a very good position,
but is there a winning plan? He played 42-38? (32x43) 48x39 en and his
opponent Natalia Shetakova succeeded in making a draw by playing very
secure (see the game). But white could win: 42-37! (32x41) 36x47 with the
plan 48 to 34 and then 24-20 (15x24) 30x8 (3x12) 23-19 (14x23) 29x7.
A big surprise today
was the result of the game between the old Dutch master Frits Luteijn and
the young Chinese player Qiangrang Zeng: 0-2! in a very fluent game. There was a nice forcing in the game between Wenlong Gao (white) and Michiel Luiten.
Blacks last
move was a mistake: (7-11?). White played 39-34! Black has a choise.
20 May 2012
White wins. A. Ldokov won the prize for the best combination of the 1st round. If you cannot find the solution, go to Games in applet on the left bar: Round 1.
"Where
is my opponent?". Guno Burleson from Surinam didn't arrive in Jomtien,
so Dutch player Paul van der Lem won the game without any strength. Click on
the photograph to maximise it. No swimming pool or beach for the Chinese players. After the games Alexej Tsjizjow analyses their games. What was wrong, what could better? Click on the photograph to maximise it.

draughts players take part in this edition of Thailand Open 2012. It is a
record and we're happy with it. See the list of participants and the Pairings,
results and standings: Round
1. When a round is finished, you can see all the games in applet. 28 April 2012 We're happy with the five strong players from China who participate in the tournament: Wenlong Gao, Qianrang Zeng, Zhenyu Li and the ladies Hanqing Zhao and Sixuan Shi. But where are the kids? We will miss them in Jomtien. This tournament is a good practical school for them so we hope they will return next year!
Thailand Open has a
new referee: Mr. Aliaksandr (Sasha) Aniska. In the recent past he was
organizer of the World Championship cadets and hopes in Slonim (Belarus).
Welcome, Mr. Slonim, in Thailand and we hope that you and your wife will
have a nice stay in this beautiful kingdom! 11 March 2012
At this moment we expect app. 100 participants. Go to the list of participants!
At this moment there are 84 inscriptions for this tournament and we still have four months to go! If you want to participate at this particular event, don't hesitate to mail the organization: tjonaong@gmail.com
There is a big chance that Alexej Tsjizjow will participate in Thailand Open 2012. Maybe some of his Chinese students from the province Hubei come with him. Possibly we have to look for a bigger players room, since the number of participants reaches the 70. But that is our problem, not the problem of draughts players who want to go to Thailand Open 2012!
We welcome a special service of our sponsor MeteoConsult. Click on the logo on the right of this page (or here) and you will see the current weather (temperature, rainfall) in Pattaya.
The
list of participants is growing and growing. And Thailand Open on Facebook
has already 616 friends. We don't hope they will come all together! Before 1940 International draughts was only popular in The Netherlands, Belgium, France and some African countries. These days however nearly the whole world is well known with the game on the 100 fields, also new draughts countries like China, India, Japan and Thailand. In
eight years Thailand Open has developed from a little tournament for a
group of Dutch players, to an international event with participation of
the best players in the world: world champions Alexej Tsjizjow, Alexander
Schwarzman and Slawa Sjtsjocholjew, all from Russia, African champions
Jean-Marc Ndjofang and Macodou N'Diaye and Dutch champion Ron Heusdens.
